
It's a bit small, but this is a picture of a salmon jumping up a waterfall at Bailey's Chute in Wells Gray Park. It was rather sad though, as this is the point in the river where the salmon can no longer get any further, so they were all being bashed about a bit and didn't make it to the top. They kept trying though. A few days later we went to a Salmon hatchery near Vancouver where they had set up artificial salmon runs for the salmon to jump, like a series of concrete pools each higher than the one before and the water pouring down them like a waterfall. There was a big window alongside and you could watch them jumping right next to you. This time they were jumping successfully from pool to pool! But close up you could see how battered they were, poor things. We watched them for ages, it was amazing.
